Acta Carpathica Occidentalis

Welcome to the sixth issue of our journal about the natural world in the Western Carpathian mountain range. As you might have noticed in the previous issues, we have been striving to achieve the right balance between expertise and readability so that all nature lovers interested in what is going on in the natural world around them or in new discoveries can find what they are looking for.

We hope to continue to provide you with exciting texts that will engage you for years to come. You will find information that will help you understand the complexitites of the relationships in our environment and to discover the mysteries of nature. You will be presented with scientific perspectives on environmental issues which will enable you to better grasp the role the humankind plays/people play in the processes of the natural world of which they are a part.

This journal is listed on the List of Peer-Reviewed Periodicals without impact factor published in the Czech Republic.

The journal is abstracted and indexed by the Zoological Record database and by Google Scholar.

Journal Mission

Scientific Peer-Reviewed Publication/Periodical (ISSN 1804-2732)

Acta Carpathica Occidentalis publishes original findings in biological scientific research related to the Carpathian Mountains in Central Europe. The journal also presents reviews, personal data and short announcements in the area of flora and fauna science and environmental education.

The first issue of the magazine was published in 2010. It was assigned its ISSN number by the Czech National Library of Technology in Prague on March 1, 2010.

Review Process and Timeline

The journal is published annually at the end of the year. Manuscripts for peer review are to be submitted by the end of June. Contributions are accepted by email to the publisher's email address. Other manuscripts are accepted only when the issue is not complete/full. The Editorial Board votes for or against submitting contributions for peer review. Authors will be provided with at least two expert opinions/assessments so that they can incorporate into their papers. Contributions to the "News & Personals" section are not subject to review.
